Aloo matar recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon cumin seeds
  • 2 teaspoon ginger grated
  • 1 green chillies chopped
  • 2 medium onions chopped
  • 2-3 medium tomatoes pureed
  • 3 large potatoes boiled and cubed
  • 1 cup peas
  • 3 tablespoon oil

Spices

  • ½ tablespoon chilli powder or as per taste
  • 1 tablespoon coriander powder
  • ½ tablespoon garam masala optional
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable stock powder optional
  • Salt as per taste

Garnish:

  • 1 tablespoon kasuri methi optional
  • ¼ cup chopped coriander

Instructions

  • In a pan,heat oil
  • Add cumin seeds.Let it splutter.
  • Add onion,ginger and chillies with little salt,allow it to cook
  • Cook until onions turn brown,add tomato puree
  • Cook for 5-7 minutes, add spices and mix well
  • After few minutes,add peas,chopped potatoes and water
  • Let it boil for 10 minutes on low flame
  • Add kasuri methi/fenugreek and turn off the heat
  • Garnish with chopped coriander.
  • Serve hot with rice,roti or poori/any flatbread.
