  • 400 grams paneer/cottage cheese cubes
  • 4 tablespoon oil/ghee clarified butter/butter
  • 2 medium onion
  • 1 tablespoon ginger
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green chillies
  • 3 large tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon coriander powder
  • ½ tablespoon red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • ½ tablespoon garam masala
  • 2-3 soaked cashews/almonds
  • 2 cups water
  • ¼ cup cream(optional)
  • 1 tablespoon crushed kasuri methi / dried fenugreek leaves
  • Salt as per taste
  • 1-2 teaspoon Sugar (if you prefer you curry to be little sweet),Shahi paneer curry served in the restaurant is little sweet


How to prepare paneer masala?

  • Heat 3 tbsp.oil and add onions & salt.
  • saute for 5 mins.
  • Add ginger & chillies with tomatoes. Cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add salt, cashews or almonds and cook until soft.
  • Now add all the spices and mix well.
  • Add 2 cups of water and mix. Blend once cool.
  • In a pan, add 1 tbsp. ghee/oil/butter with blended onion tomato puree .
  • Add cottage cheese cubes to the gravy with cream, kasuri methi and let it come to a boil.
  • Garnish with a teaspoon of chopped coriander.
  • Serve roti with paneer butter masala.
