Besan chilla recipe

Besan flour pancakes are easy to make at home. They need very less oil and are very nutritious with the addition of mix veggies

Equipment

  • tava/ griddle
  • whisk

Ingredients

  • 2 cup besan/chickpea flour
  • ½ cup oats flour or whole wheat flour/atta
  • 11/2 cup water
  • 1 cup grated carrots
  • ½ cup chopped spinach or methi/fenugreek or spring onion
  • 1 tablespoon ginger
  • 1 tbsp. finely chopped green chillies
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt as per taste
  • 2-3 tablespoon Oil to cook

Instructions

  • Mix the besan and oats/whole wheat flour with some water and spices
  • Add veggies and whisk into a smooth batter. It should be of pouring consistency.
  • Heat a metal tava / griddle and start pouring the batter with the laddle
  • Sprinkle some oil on the childa let it cook for few minutes on low flame
  • Flip over on the other side ,sprinkle some oil on the other side. Flip back after a few minutes.
  • Serve warm with mint chutney.

Notes

You may make this gluten free besan chilla by removing the oats flour/whole wheat flour. In that case, they might not bind well and you can just make them little thicker.
