Brown rice chakli

Brown rice chakli is a gluten-free snack which is a perfect companion for tea.

  • 1 cup brown rice flour
  • 1 cup rice flour
  • 25 gms cold butter
  • 2 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • ¾ cup warm water
  • Salt as per taste
  • Oil for frying


  • Mix all ingredients in a bowl and knead with water.
  • Cover the dough and let it rest for 20 mins.
  • Using the chakli maker,press and make circular chakli(shaped like pretzels) on a butter paper.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan,Slide the chakli one by one and fry until golden brown.
  • Store in an air-tight container.


Note: This is a basic recipe.You can add more spices like black pepper,garam masala etc according to your taste.
You can grind in a spice grinder if you do not have the brown rice flour.
