Banana chips recipe

Banana chips is an easy snack and great companion for tea.

Equipment

  • frying pan
  • or air fryer for low oil version
  • slicer

Ingredients

  • 4-6 raw bananas
  • 1 tablespoon rock salt/salt
  • 2 cups water
  • Oil for frying (in traditional method) or

Spices:

  • 1 tablespoon crushed black pepper
  • Salt as per taste

Instructions

  • Peel and slice the raw bananas
  • Soak the slices in water with 1 tablespoon salt
  • Dry the slices on paper tissue for few minutes(10-15 minutes).
  • Fry them in medium hot oil until crisp.
  • Toss the slices with black pepper and salt(optional).
  • Store in an airtight container.

For air fryer version

  • Slice bananas thin after peeling.
  • Toss them in salt and 2 teaspoon coconut oil.
  • Preheat the air fryer for 5 mins at 180 deg C.
  • Air fry them at 180 deg C for 10 -12 mins. Optionally spray oil once.

Notes

The chips should be sliced with the thin slicers,too thick slices won't cook as crisp compared to thin slices.
