  • 1 cup adzuki beans soaked in water for 3-4 hours/overnight
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 medium onions chopped
  • 1 piece ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1.5 cup tomato paste or 4-5 medium tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp. paprika
  • 1 tbsp. garam masala
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice or as per taste
  • salt and pepper as per taste


  • Heat oil in a pan and sauté onions,ginger,garlic and little salt for 3-4 minutes.
  • Add tomato puree and cook for 8-10 mins.
  • Allow it to come together as paste
  • Now, add paprika, salt and garam masala powder. mix well.
  • Add adzuki beans and mix well.
  • Now add water and let it come to a boil. Cover and Cook on medium flame until the beans are completely cooked(at least 30 minutes)
  • Add sweet potato pieces and cook until they are soft(10 minutes), simmering over low heat.
  • Adjust salt and pepper as per your taste. Turn off the heat, add lime juice. Serve hot with bread.
