Air fryer onion kachori recipe
Low oil onion kachori in air fryer, just as delicious as the deep fried traditional Jodhpur's pyaz ki kachori.

For the dough:
- 1 cup plain flour all purpose flour
- 2 tablespoon oil
- 1 tablespoon oil for brushing
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon carom seeds
- ⅓ cup water
For the filling:
- 2 medium onions chopped
- 1 green chilli
- 1 tablespoon ginger
- 2 tablespoon oil
- Salt to taste
- ¼ teaspoon red chilli powder
- ½ teaspoon coriander seeds
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric
- ¼ teaspoon fennel seeds
- ¼ teaspoon dry mango powder amchur
- ½ teaspoon garam masala
- 2 tablespoon gram flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar optional
Make the filling: Heat oil in a pan, add onions and salt and cook until soft and lightly browned. Add gram flour and spices and stir until the mixture becomes dry and aromatic. Cool completely.
Prepare the dough: Mix flour, salt, carom seeds and oil. Rub to form a coarse mixture. Add water gradually and knead a firm dough. Rest covered for 20 minutes.
Shape kachoris: Divide dough into portions. Flatten each into a small disc, add a spoonful of onion filling, seal tightly and press lightly to shape.
Air fry: Preheat air fryer at 185C/365F. Brush kachoris with oil, arrange in a single layer and cook for 10 minutes. Flip, brush again and air fry for another 8–10 minutes until golden brown.
Serve warm with green chutney, sweet chutney or tamarind chutney.
