Equipment

  • pan
  • Air fryer

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger chopped
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder or seasoning of choice
  • 200 grams paneer cubed
  • ¼ cup green peas frozen or fresh
  • Salt to taste
  • Paprika to taste
  • ¼ cup water optional
  • 2 puff pastry sheet thawed
  • Water for sealing
  • Oil spray as needed
  • Tomato ketchup to serve

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them crackle.
  • Add chopped onion and ginger. Cook until the onion turns soft and lightly pink.
  • Add curry powder, salt, and paprika. Mix well for a few seconds.
  • Add paneer cubes and green peas. Toss gently so the paneer is coated with the masala.
  • Cook for a few minutes until the filling is dry. Turn off the heat and let the paneer filling cool completely.
  • Thaw the frozen puff pastry sheet for about 5 minutes, or until it is soft enough to fold but still cold.
  • Cut the pastry sheet into rectangles. Add a spoonful of paneer filling to each piece.
  • Apply water along the edges and seal the puffs firmly. Repeat with the remaining filling.
  • Freeze the prepared paneer puffs for 3 to 4 hours, or overnight.
  • Preheat the air fryer at 190°C | 375°F for 5 minutes.
  • Place the paneer puffs in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them.
  • Spray lightly with oil and air fry for 15 to 16 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
  • Serve hot with tomato ketchup or chutney.

Notes

Do not overfill the puffs, or the edges may open while cooking.
Always cool the paneer filling before adding it to the pastry sheets.
Freezing helps the puff pastry hold its shape and gives a better flaky texture in the air fryer.
Reheat leftover paneer puffs in the air fryer at 160°C | 320°F for 3 to 5 minutes.
