- ½ cup red lentils with skin Also called horsegram lentils, else use French lentils
- 2 cups water for boiling, use more for soaking
- 2 teaspoon oil 1 teaspoon for each batch
- salt as per taste
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper adjust as per taste
Soak lentils at least 4-6 hours at room temperature in cold water, once the lentils have been soaked, drain the excess water.
Boil water on stove top in a large pot. Cook the lentils in boiling water for 4-5 minutes, Drain excess water.
Preheat the air fryer at 180C/355F for 5 minutes. Toss the cooked lentils in 1 teaspoon oil.
Spread a part of lentils on the crisping tray or a parchment paper ( baking sheet ) in a single layer.
Cook for 8 -10 mins at 180C / 355 F and mix 2-3 times in between. Once done, take it outside, keep it aside on a paper towel.
Repeat for remaining lentils
Add the spices ,mix well. Store it in air tight container once it cools.
