chocolate peda recipe (with ricotta cheese)

Chocolate peda is a sweet treat, full of protein.ricotta cheese malai peda comes to rescue when you do not have much time to make it.

Equipment

  • Kadai / heavy bottom pan
  • Vitamix / food processor

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp. ghee
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp. full fat milk
  • ¾ cup milk powder
  • 500 gms ricotta cheese
  • 3 tbsp. cocoa powder

Instructions

  • In a food processor, add cocoa powder, ricotta cheese and milk powder.Process it until it is evenly mixed.
  • In a deep pan or kadai, heat 2-3 tbsp. ghee and add sugar to it . add 2-3 tablespoon milk and let sugar melt.
  • Add the ricotta mixture to the pan and let it cook on a low flame.
  • Mix with a spatula until it comes together and liquid starts to evaporate. You can see it getting thicker slowly and keep removing it from sides of the pan. Once thick, turn off the gas and remove it with a spatula to a greased plate.
  • With greased hands, slowly make equal sized balls of peda mixture and flatten them. Use your thumb to push it down from the center to make the peda
  • Chill it in refrigerator for 2-3 hours. Serve it on room temperature.

Notes

You may add a teaspoon of cardamom powder or teaspoon vanilla extract to the recipe.
