Roasted chana dal chikki recipe
Chikki is good way to pep your energy.Make it from nuts,lentils,coconut or seeds. Adding jaggery makes it healthy and rich in iron too.

- 1 ⅓ cup roasted bengal gram or chutney dal
- ¼ cup sugar replace sugar by jaggery if required
- ¼ cup jaggery
- 1 tablespoon ghee or clarified butter Use oil for dairy free/vegan option
- 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
Cook puffed chana dal chikki in a pan
Dry roast chutney dal in a heavy bottomed pan for 2 minutes.Keep it aside.
In a heavy bottom pan, add ghee and sugar so that it starts to melt.
Add jaggery and cook for 2 minutes on low flame,till it forms a homogeneous mixture
Keep stirring on a medium flame till sugar gets caramelized and you get a boil.
Drop few droplets of mix in bowl of water, if it crystalizes, then its ready.
Add cardamom powder to it along with roasted chutney dal and turn off the heat.
Cook puffed chana dal chikki in air fryer
In a preheated air fryer,roast the puffed chana dal for 5 minutes at 150C|300 f.Keep it aside.In a metal bowl, take the jaggery with cardamom powder and spray oil on top of jaggery. In a preheated air fryer, cook the jaggery for 8-10 minutes at 150C,once done mix it with a sptaula, if you find that it is still not melted, then cook for 1-2 minutes more.
Add the roasted chana dal to the melted jaggery.Mix it well, if the mixture starts to set, you can cook for a 1-2 minutes in air fryer, this will help it mix better
Rolling the chikki
Pour the chikki mixture on a greased plate/baking sheet and roll with a rolling pin to even it.
While it is still warm cut 1' squares incisions and let it cool.
Break into pieces once it cools off
Store brittle in a airtight container.
