- 3-4 medium potatoes Russet / Yukon Gold / Kind Edward / Idaho for best results, else lookout for Royal dutch cream/ Red royal/purple
- 3 tbsp. oil 2 tablespoon oil for seasoning
- 2-3 cloves garlic finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt or as per taste
Combine chopped garlic, salt, and 2 tablespoon oil. Keep it aside.Clean the potatoes by washing and removing any dirt, then peel them. Cut both ends of the potato to make flat surfaces.
Position the potato next to 2 wooden spatulas or spoons. Use the spatula to prevent cutting all the way through the potato while cutting it with the knife. (Refer to picture in the previous post)
The potatoes need to be sliced from both ends. Flip the potato over and use the spatula to make diagonal cuts, ensuring that you don’t cut all the way through.
Place a wooden skewer through the potatoes. This will assist in keeping them united.
Set the air fryer to preheat at 200°C (390°F). In the span of 10 minutes. Brush 1 tbsp. oil on it. To make accordion potatoes in the air fryer, air fry at 200 deg C (390 F) for 8 minutes.
Coat the potatoes with seasoned oil and air fry for an additional 12-14 minutes at 200°C (390°F) until cooked. Larger potatoes will require additional cooking time.
Serve hot/warm.
Russet type of potatoes work best for making chips at home. Here in Australia, we prefer using local variety like Royal dutch cream/ Red royal / purple/king edward
