Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chickpea flour Besan
  • ½ cup oats flour or you may use chickpea flour (Besan)
  • ½ cup quinoa flour or you may use chickpea flour (Besan)
  • ½ teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon cumin powder
  • ½ teaspoon green chilli or as per taste
  • ¼ teaspoon asafoetida /heeng avoid if gluten-free
  • 3 tablespoon tamarind paste
  • water enough to make thick paste
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • salt as per taste
  • 8-10 Colocasia leaves arbi leaves

For tempering

  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • salt as per taste
  • freshly grated coconut for garnish

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl add green chili, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, asafoetida, chickpea flour, quinoa flour,oats flour,cumin powder and tamarind paste with enough water to make a thick paste
  • Mix well with water to make a paste.
  • Wash the leaves first & spread the paste using a spoon on the taro leaves so that the mixture is spread evenly
  • Add another leaf on top,spread the mixture again. Do this with atleast 4-5 leaves.
  • Close it from both ends and roll it up.
  • repeat this for another set of leaves,put these rolls in a steamer.
  • Steam it for 20-22 minutes, Remove it from steamer and keep it aside to cool.
  • Once it cools down,cut it into small spirals like a Swiss roll. Meanwhile preheat the air fryer for 5 mins at 180 C|355 F
  • Brush them with oil and sprinkle sesame seeds on them,air fry them in a preheated air fryer at 180 C|355 F for 8-10 minutes.
  • garnish with fresh grated coconut.
  • Serve warm with a dip/chutney

Notes

You may adjust the spices as per your liking. Increase the chillies or tamarind pulp as per your taste.
