Equipment

  • Air fryer for low oil version
  • potato masher

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sweet potato boiled and mashed
  • ½ cup ragi flour finger millet flour
  • 1 teaspoon dried mint
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • Salt to taste
  • 1-2 tablespoon oil for brushing

Instructions

  • Prepare the Cutlet Mixture:
  • Mix the mashed sweet potato, ragi flour, dried mint, grated ginger, and salt in a mixing bowl. Combine all the ingredients thoroughly until a dough-like texture is achieved.
  • Shape the Cutlets:
  • Form small portions of the mixture into circular, flattened patties (tikkis).
  • After shaping, put the patties in the freezer for 1-2 hours to make them firm.
  • Preheat the Air Fryer:
  • Preheat your air fryer to 180°C (355°F) for 5 minutes.
  • Cook the Cutlets:
  • Coat the cutlets with oil on both sides.
  • Arrange the cutlets evenly in the air fryer basket. Bake at 180°C (355°F) for 22-24 minutes, remembering to flip halfway through.
  • While cooking, apply a small amount of oil to the cutlets once to help them become crispy and golden brown.
  • Serve:
  • After cooking, take the cutlets out of the air fryer and allow them to cool for a bit.
  • Enjoy it hot with green chutney or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Keeping the raw patties in refrigerator/deep freezer will help them to retain their shape while cooking.
