Til patti recipe

Til ka lai can be made very easily with til(sesame) and gud(jaggery) .Sesame seeds can also be mixed with other seeds to make 5 seed brittle.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sesame seeds or til
  • ¾ cup jaggery /natural cane sugar
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom powder

Instructions

Cook Til chikki in pan

  • Dry roast sesame seeds for 10 mins on a low flame.Keep it aside.
  • In a pan, add ghee or oil, and chopped jaggery. Let it cook on low flame until it melts.
  • In bowl of water,add a drop of jaggery to check if it is brittle and solidifies.
  • Now, add cardamom powder,sesame seeds and mix well.Switch off flame.

Cook Til patti in airfyer

  • In a preheated air fryer,roast the sesame seeds/til for 15-17 minutes at 150C|300 f.Keep it aside.
  • In a metal bowl, take the jaggery with cardamom powder and spray oil on top of jaggery.In a preheated air fryer, cook the jaggery for 8-10 minutes at 150C,once done mix it with a sptaula, if you find that it is still not melted, then cook for 1-2 minutes more.
  • Add the roasted sesame to the melted jaggery.Mix it well, if the mixture starts to set, you can cook for a 1-2 minutes in air fryer, this will help it mix better

Rolling the til patti

  • Spread mix on baking paper or a greased tray.Press evenly.
  • Draw incisions.Break into desired shapes.
  • Store in a dry jar. Serve fresh.

Notes

Make sure that you make the incisions when the mixture is hot.Once it cools.it will set within few seconds and you will not be able to roll it on the board.
