Equipment

Ingredients

  • 3 cup mashed potatoes ½ kg potatoes yield 3 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup cheese mozzarella cheese is preffered
  • 1 tbsp. dill or any seasoning, fresh or fry
  • 4 tbsp. plain flour
  • ½ cup water
  • ¾ cup bread crumbs
  • 1.5 tbsp. oil
  • ½ tablespoon red paprika or any spice
  • salt as per taste.

Instructions

  • Boil and mash potatoes.
  • Mix grated cheese, oil,dill/herbs with corn(optional) in a bowl.
  • Place a scoop of cheese mix on a mashed potato, in your palm
  • Make balls out of the mixture as per the required size.
  • Mix plain flour along with water to make a slurry. Dip the balls in the slurry.
  • Optionally place all potato balls on a mesh so that excess batter drips away.
  • Add spices and oil to the breadcrumbs,Coat each ball with bread crumbs.
  • Once the ball are coated, move them to a freezer for 30 minutes or 2 hours in a fridge. Allowing these balls to cool will allow for a better texture.
  • Take the balls out of the freezer/fridge,Preheat the air fryer at 180C | 375 F for 5 minutes. Place it in air fryer without overlap
  • Air fry at 180C |375F for 8-10 minutes or until evenly brown on all sides.
  • Serve hot with sour cream, mayonnaise or ketchup.

Notes

You can also add fresh corn to the cheese mix to make corn cheese balls. Mozzarella mashed potatoes and spices make a delicious air fryer potato bites recipe.
