    Potato and cheese is a winning combination. Air fryer mashed potato balls is a yummy delight with cheese melting in your mouth. When served hot and at made at a perfect texture, everything is right with the world in one bite. You can never go wrong with this when you have kids at home. Everyone loves potatoes and cheese. No wonder most restaurants serve fries, pizzas, garlic bread and pastas for everyone.

    This appetiser reminds me of Italian arancini balls which are a wonderful starter. Here is an air fried mashed potato ball recipe which is relatively lower in calories. Although, it does have cheese, it is not fried.There are other recipes that you can make with potato in the airfryer such as air fryer Potato skins , air fryer Potato chips , air fryer smashed potatoes or air fryer potato cheese balls. You may also use the air fryer to cook frozen snacks such as pizza pockets,spring rolls,frozen pizza,frozen samosa or reheat leftover fries and leftover pizza in the airfryer.

    Ingredients

    • potato
    • cheese
    • dill
    • plain flour
    • corn flour
    • water
    • bread crumbs
    • oil
    • salt
    • seasoning

    Equipment

    • masher
    • steamer/ pressure cooker
    • parchment paper
    • bowl
    • air fryer
    • oil spray/pastry brush

    Instructions

    1. Boil and mash potatoes.

    2. Mix grated cheese, oil,dill/herbs with corn(optional) in a bowl.

    3. Place a scoop of cheese mix on a mashed potato, in your palm.

    4. Make balls out of the mixture as per the required size.

    5. Mix plain flour along with water to make a slurry. Dip the balls in the slurry.

    6. Place all potato balls on a mesh so that excess batter drips away.

    7. Add spices and oil to the breadcrumbs,Coat each ball with bread crumbs.

    8. Once the ball are coated, move them to a freezer for 30 minutes or 2 hours in a fridge. Allowing these balls to cool will allow for a better texture.

    9. Take the balls out of the freezer/fridge,Preheat the air fryer at 180C | 375 F for 10 minutes. Place it in air fryer without overlap.

    10. Air fry at 180C |375F for 8-10 minutes or until evenly brown on all sides.

    11. Serve hot with sour cream, mayonnaise or ketchup.

    Variations

    You can use any cheese for this like cheddar, mozzarella.

    You can make mashed potato cakes in the airfryer without any stuffing.

    Substitutions

    You can use vegan cheese instead of dairy based cheese. If you do not own an air fryer, you can also fry it as in traditional method.

    Storage

    Store it in refrigerator. Heat before serving.

    Ingredients

    • 3 cup mashed potatoes ½ kg potatoes yield 3 cups mashed potatoes
    • 1 cup cheese mozzarella cheese is preffered
    • 1 tbsp. dill or any seasoning, fresh or fry
    • 4 tbsp. plain flour
    • ½ cup water
    • ¾ cup bread crumbs
    • 1.5 tbsp. oil
    • ½ tablespoon red paprika or any spice
    • salt as per taste.

    Instructions
