Getting a Vitamix made my life so much easier. Smoothie recipes just taste fantastic and soups have never been better. I love making my milkshakes and frappes at home. Vegan smoothies are perfect for breakfast too. I love making my homemade almond milk and oat milk regularly. Although, my favorite café is just round the corner, having Vitamix at home helps me enjoy my smoothie anytime, even when the shop is closed. Bonus: hemp seed milk is great for a hot cuppa masala chai.

I love making my chocolate smoothie with raw cacao nibs instead of cocoa powder these days. This vegan smoothie is great way to start the day. Gives you a chocolatey happy morning. Learn to make this vegan cacao smoothie in easy steps. Plus, it is a no add sugar as I use ripe bananas for natural sweetness. As a variation you can also make chocolate peanut butter banana smoothies.

Summer time is smoothie time. Nothing better than adding a spoonful of chia seeds to get that extra magnesium on a daily basis. Chia seeds are good for digestion and helps aid weight loss along with oats. What more does a mum need, other than a dose of extra energy!

    Substitutions

You can make this banana cacao smoothie with dairy too if you are a vegetarian. Just use regular whole milk or light milk as per your diet preference. However,  I avoid it as per Ayurveda bananas and milk is not a good combination.  If you do not have chia seeds, you may add flax seeds. For other vegan options are using a cup almond milk, coconut milk, hemp seed milk or rice milk as per your choice. I prefer using unsweetened almond milk or hemp seed milk in smoothies if oats are not at home,

    Variations

If you do not have organic cacao nibs, you may use raw cacao powder or dark chocolate for the same. Adjust the banana according to the use of sweetened or unsweetened. You can also make an avocado cacao smoothie or a mint cacao nib smoothie. Optionally, you may add a spoonful of protein powder if you are into it.

    Equipment

    Vitamix blender / high-powered blender

    Storage

Vitamix smoothies are great even after few hours. Although, smoothies made with other blenders, might separate a bit. In that case, just stir it with a spoon. However, it is always best to have fresh.

    Top tip

You may garnish it with some chopped chocolate if you like.

After using the Vitamix blender, there are multiple ways in which you can clean the Vitamix jar, learn in detail with our article on how to clean the vitamix dishwasher.

    FAQ

Are cacao nibs 100% dark chocolate?

Cacao nibs are less processed than dark chocolate. They are crumbled raw cacao beans which means you are eating unsweetened 100% dark chocolate

Is cacao powder better for you than cocoa powder?

It is better in anti-oxidants. It is the highest source of magnesium available.

    Is cacao good for sleep?

Yes it promotes sleep. I do recommend you brush before you yawn again!

What is the difference between raw cacao and cacao nibs?

The difference is in the processing. Cacao is the raw bean that is cold-pressed into a powder or small pieces called cacao nibs. Cold pressing maintains much of enzymes and nutrients, like antioxidants and magnesium, and yet separates the fat from the bean

Is coconut oil good in a smoothie?

Coconut oil is a super food and has healthy fat. It helps your body process the carbs from smoothie without the sugar crash. People on Keto diet like to add MCT oil ,olive oil and coconut oil to their beverages. Instead of adding banana and pear to the above smoothie you may add berries and monk fruit sweetener.
