Step-by step instructions to make murmura chikki in air fryer
- Prheat air fryer for 5 minutes Place puffed rice in a steel bowl over a trivet inside the air fryer at 170C | 340F.
2. Air fry for 8-10 minutes @ 170C | 340F. Remove and keep aside.

3. Add jaggery and coconut oil to a heatproof dish.
4. Air fry jaggery @ 170C | 340F for 8-10 minutes mixing in between

5. Add roasted murmura and cardamom powder to the melted jaggery syrup.
6. Mix quickly and evenly so the puffed rice is well coated.

7. The jaggery-coated murmura mixture is spread on parchment paper, flattened evenly, and allowed to cool.
8. Once firm, it's cut into rectangular pieces, forming perfect chikki bars.

Top tip: If you do not have a baking paper with you, used a greased rolling pin and grease the kitchen platform before you put the mix to make your chikki recipes.Related links

- ¾ cup jaggery /natural cane sugar
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon cardamom powder

- Roast murmura: Place puffed rice in a baking dish and air fry at 170°C (340°F) for 8-10 minutes, shaking once halfway through.
- Melt jaggery: In another heatproof dish, add jaggery and coconut oil. Air fry at 170°C (340°F) for 9-10 minutes, stirring once midway.
- Combine: Add roasted murmura, cardamom, and sesame seeds to melted jaggery. Mix well until all are coated.
- Shape: Spread on parchment paper, flatten, and cool for 10-15 minutes.
- Cut and store: Slice into bars and store in an airtight container at room temperature.

Variations
You can also make murmura chikki recipe with sugar. Cook sugar on low flame, as soon as the sugar melts you can add the til/sesame seeds. With sugar, you need not check whether its cooked or not like the way we do for jaggery.
Top tip: Crush the leftover praline and add it to your ice creams for a crunchy texture as topping. No need to buy color based sprinkles.

Jaggery is undercooked. Cook for 2-3 mins more for the perfect crunch.
If you over cook it, they will have a burnt flavor. Less cooking of jaggery will make it chewy.
