Sewiyan Upma

The desi noodles or vermicelli better known as ‘Sewiyan Upma’ is a fast food which tastes yum and is actually healthy. You can cook it within 15 mins and it has the goodness of vegetables which you can add to it as per your choice.Vermicelli unlike noodle brands,is made from wheat durum like some other types of pasta and need to be cooked al dente’ .Best part about ‘Sewiyan Upma’ is it is versatile, you can choose to flavour vermicelli according to the veggies you like, add carrots, shallots, peas, capsicum, tomatoes with a dash of lemon or just serve it in yogurt DIY as you like.I find this meal very nourishing and my healthy alternative to noodles on Sunday or any other weekday. It is also healthier and lighter than having traditional paranthas for breakfast. Most mothers do find ways to feed their kids with veggies and this is a great recipe for working moms who are always running short of time balancing both home chores and office workloads. It is also a regular feature at tea time in various canteens in Maharashtra,Andhra ,Telangana and Karnataka.
