Nowadays, rice paper rolls and momos are also in demand, whether you are vegan or non-vegetarian. Serve this delicious snack with sweet chilli or sriracha. People are now interested to eat regional cuisines even when they travel abroad. Air fry spring rolls at home to make a healthier version.
Filipinos and Indonesians call them lumpia. Other names include loempia in Netherlands and Belgium, chunkun in Mexicali. Rollos primavera in Mexico and Chiko roll in Australia was also inspired by them. Although, you can make them easily from scratch, sometimes frozen ones are good too. - Cornflour and water mix to seal the edges
- spring roll pastry sheets ( sheets are 21x21 cm),1 sheet for 1 spring roll ( Recently I got bigger pastry sheets, that were 25cm x 25cm, I divided the sheet in 4 equal pieces and made smaller spring rolls)
Allow the sheets to thaw for 10 minutes, take out the the sheets you need and move the rest to the freezer

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoon avocado oil / peanut oil
- 7-8 spring roll sheets 21x21 cm,thawed for 10 minutes
- 2 tablespoon cornflour mixed with water ,to seal the edges
- 1 tablespoon water
For flavorful filling:
- 1 tablespoon avocado oil
- 3 cups cabbage shredded
- 1 cup carrots shredded
- salt and pepper as per taste
Instructions
- Mix cornflour with water to make a smooth paste, keep this aside to seal the edges of the spring rolls.
- Shred the cabbage and carrots into thin strips.
- Heat oil in a pan and add cabbage and carrots to it.
- Add salt and pepper and cook for 3-4 mins.
- Add a big spoonful of mix to spring roll sheets.
- Roll the sheets to make a spring roll of desired size.
- Wrap both the ends (like making an envelope)(refer detailed pictures above the recipe card)
- Continue to roll till you reach the end of the sheet. Repeat the process to make spring roll for whole mixture.Apply the cornflour water mix at the edges to seal them.(refer detailed pictures above the recipe card)
- Preheat the air fryer at 180 deg C (355 F) for 5-10 mins. Brush oil on the spring rolls and place the spring rolls in the air fryer basket.
- Air fry them at 180 C| 355 F for 10 mins,brush oil ,flip and continue to air fry for 8-10 minutes at 180C | 355 F to get crispy spring rolls.
- Serve warm with sweet chilli sauce.

I must say homemade spring roll in ninja foodi actually give a good competition to restaurant ones. Have it when watching a game. They are perfect for a movie night too. Snuggle in and have some air fried fries , hashbrowns and popcorn too.
Variations
You can use any meat based lumpia if you are non-vegan. You can have fried vegetarian spring rolls by frying them in a wok or baked vegetarian spring rolls by using an oven.
Storage
- Always eat delicious spring rolls to enjoy its crispy exterior to the fullest.
- Reheating method: If you have something left over. Freeze in a freezer bag or refrigerate it in an air tight plastic box. Air fry it before you serve.
