    Vegan Nut free protein balls | nut-free energy balls

    Bliss ball recipes have taken the world by storm. Most of them resemble our age-old laddu which just got a fashionable name. Laddoos have been a part of Indian cuisine for generations with wholesome ingredients. Whether its dink laddu, dry fruit pinni , sattu laddu or  besan laddoo. While Indian sweets are cooked, protein balls recipe is a no bake energy balls. My son loves making them in Vitamix after making his peanut butter. However, most schools are nut-free zones. Hence, it was time for us to move away from cookies and work to make snack balls with some seeds. These nut-free energy balls is a healthy snack for lunch boxes. It is perfect for those who have nut allergies or without.

    I am always looking for grab-n-go snacks as children are always so agile. They have a tight schedules between school, play time and various hobbies that they want to pursue. It is always beneficial that they eat healthy and if possible homemade.

    Ingredients

    • Pitted dates
    • Rolled oats
    • pepitas/pumpkin seeds
    • goji berries or raisins
    • desiccated coconut 
    • maple syrup or agave syrup
    • unsweetened cocoa powder/ cacao powder
    • coconut oil

    Instructions

    In a food processor, add all the ingredients.

    Now, pulse it for for some time, until all ingredients are mixed.Use a spatula to mix them and then pulse it again.

    Roll into balls by taking small amount of mixture in your hands. You can use an ice cream scooper optionally to take the right amount for equal size balls. It might feel little sticky. Optionally roll these balls in coconut flour.

    Store these no bake protein balls in an air tight jar at room temperature.

    • Food processor / food processor

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup dates pitted
    • ½ cup oats
    • ¼ cup pumpkin seeds pepitas
    • ¼ cup goji berries or raisins
    • 2 tbsp. dessicated coconut
    • 2 tbsp. maple syrup /agave nectar/ honey for non-vegan option
    • 1 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 1-2 tbsp. coconut oil / olive oil

    Optional

    • 2 tablespoon coconut flour for rolling the balls

    Instructions

    • In a food processor, add all the ingredients.

    Variations and Substitutions

    You can add a spoonful of your plant-based protein powders to this mix for adults. You can make these in different ways to make these nut free energy bites. Add hemp seeds, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, flax seeds, extra shredded coconut or whatever you like. Add some mini chocolate chips or cacao powder if you like some chocolate treat. No bake protein balls are a perfect activity for kids too.

    Storage

    Store these no bake protein balls in airtight container.
