    Soya chaap is delicacy which is immensely popular across North India. Those who are not aware,it is an alternative to chicken. This canned vegan chicken can be used to make a variety of vegan and vegetarian dishes like biryani, malai chaap and tandoori soya chaap tikka a.k.a the closest version of tandoori chicken tikka.

    Whether its soya chunks manchurian or homestyle soya chaap curry. You can use this chaap tikka to make soya chaap tikka masala.

    Ingredients

    • 1 can soya chaap (yields 500 gm when drained)
    • greek yogurt / coconut yogurt if vegan
    • turmeric powder
    • red chili powder / kashmiri red chili powder
    • garam masala powder
    • salt
    • dried fenugreek leaves / kasuri methi

    Instructions

    Canned soya chaap
    1. Drain the soya chaap pieces and squeeze the water out. cut them into small pieces.
    mix yogurt with spices
    1. Combine all spices into a large bowl and combine thoroughly with yogurt
    Add soya chaap to batter
    1. Mix the soya chaap with marinade and let it rest for 2-3 hours.

    Cook in airfryer

    Preheat your air fryer for 5 mins at 170 deg C | 340 F after lining your basket with a parchment paper. Line the marinated soya chaap pieces on the skewers and place it in the air fryer.

    Cook for 20 minutes

    Air fry the soy chaap for 17-18 mins at 170 degrees C | 340 degrees F.

    Brush oil for 2 times during the cook.

    Garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Serve it with onion slices, lemon wedges and green chutney. You can also serve it with tandoori roti for a meal. Hint: Always preheat your air fryer.

    Variations & Substitutions

    Other recipes you can make in a similar fashion in the air fryer are tandoori mushrooms, paneer tikka masala, keto paneer tikka.

    Layer the pieces on a parchment paper on the air fryer basket without overlapping each other if you do not have skewers at home.

    You may also cut the soya chaap into smaller pieces and grill them in the airfryer

    Ingredients

    For air fry soya chaap

    • 500 gms soya chaap 1 can (after draining)
    • ½ cup yogurt / coconut yogurt for vegan option
    • ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
    • 2 teaspoon red chili powder /kashmiri lal mirch powder /paprika
    • 1 tbsp. garam masala powder
    • 1 tbsp. mint leaves / dried fenugreek leaves chopped
    • 1 teaspoon Salt or as per taste
    • 2 tablespoon red lentil flour
    • 2 tbsp oil

    Instructions

    • Drain the excess water and squeeze the soya chaap.cut them into small pieces. .Mix the spices with yogurt for marination in a bowl
    • Mix soy chaap in the marinade. Keep it aside for 2-3 hours.
    • Preheat your air fryer for 5 mins at 180 deg C | 355 F. Line the marinated soya chaap pieces on the skewers and place it in the air fryer.
    • Air fry the soy chaap for 20-22 mins at 180 degrees C | 355 degrees F.
    • Brush oil for 2 times during the cook.Serve with coriander chutney

    Storage

    Store them in an airtight container for 3-4 days.

    Top tip

    Always preheat your air fryer before you use it for air frying. marination process generally takes 2-3 hours or its best left overnight. This step can be done in advance and stored in refrigerator / freezer until you are ready to consume the cooked chaap.
