Soy beans is a rich source of protein. Whether you like soy milk, tofu or eat it as soya chunks or soy curls.Other uses include soy sauce, soybean flour, miso, tempeh, bean curd and soybean oil.
I love having roasted edamame beans from costco. It is a healthy snack recipe with a nutty flavor. Other protein rich recipes are moong dal, roasted peas , crunchy red lentils, crispy chickpeas and moong beans recipe. Hence, I decided to make roasted soy beans or soy nuts at home. Good thing is it has only handful of ingredients and can be customized according to taste preferences.

Air fried soybeans recipe | crispy air fryer edamame recipe
Equipment
- Air fryer
- ladle
- sauce pan
Ingredients
- 2 cup green soybeans 3 cups of water to boil 2 cups
- 2 tsp. salt or as per taste
- 1 tablespoon oil
Instructions
- Add soybeans to boiling water with salt. Turn off the heat and allow them to be in the water for 5-7 minutes.
- Pass the soaked soybeans through a sieve to remove excess water.
- Add 2 teaspoon oil and mix it. Preheat the air fryer at 150 deg C| 300 deg F for 5 mins.
- Place the soybeans in a single layer in the air fryer basket. You may do that in batches if you have a smaller basket
- Air fry soybeans for 23-25 mins at 150 deg C | 300 deg F and mix 2-3 times in between.Depending on the size of the beans, you may need to cook further for 2-3 minutes, if they are not crunchy.
- Once done, place them on a paper towel for few minutes.
- Optionally ,Add any more spices or seasonings as you like ,mix well. Store it in air tight container once it cools.

Use different seasoning ideas for giving a flavor to air fryer roasted edamame
like garlic salt, cajun spices, garlic powder, chili oil, onion powder,lemon juice to flavor your crunchy snack. You could also use italian herbs or just Himalayan salt and some black pepper powder. You can also give it a sweet twist by coating it in cocoa powder and maple syrup.

Store your crunchy roasted soy beans in an air tight container once it completely cools down.
