    Instructions

While we won't go into the specific details of the recipe in this article, it is important to note that the process of creating samosa pinwheels involves several steps. These include preparing the flavorful potato filling, rolling out the puff pastry, and skillfully shaping it into the recognizable pinwheel shape. Finally, after all the preparation, these pinwheels are carefully air-fried until they reach a state of golden brown perfection.

    Substitutions

If, for any reason, you are unable to locate specific ingredients at your nearby grocery store, there is no need to worry or feel anxious. It is quite common to find simple substitutions that can be used. I like to substitute the normal full fat puff pastry with a low fat option.

You may add a spoonful of garam masala / chat masala to the filling for a spicy potato filling. Other spices that can be added as per taste are red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, dry mango powder (amchur powder)

Adding fennel seeds (saunf) and carom seeds (ajwain), helps in digestion as all purpose flour + potatoes can be gassy.

    Variations

One reason why samosa pinwheels are so popular is because they can be enjoyed in various ways due to their versatility. There are numerous possibilities for experimenting with different fillings when preparing this dish. You may put any other filling you like minced meat filling for non-vegetarian option -keema samosa.

You can add chilies as per taste or keep the spices low for kids.

For a jain samosa pinwheels, avoid adding onions to this recipe.

    Equipment

    • air fryer
    • brush
    • potato masher
    • chopping board & knife / food chopper
    • kadai / wok
    • instant pot/ pressure cooker / saucepan for boiling potatoes

    Storage

Store leftover pinwheels samosas in an airtight container in refrigerator. Good for 2-3 days.

You can freeze them in a tray lined with parchment paper and cover it with a cling film. Air fry before you serve.
