This easy vegetarian appetizer is made by putting savory potato filling, in store-bought puff pastry sheets. Serve it with mint coriander chutney or tamarind chutney, or good old tomato ketchup for a teatime delicacy.

I got the puff pastry sheets from the frozen section of a super market store. You can use Borg's or Pampas.

- 2 frozen puff pastry sheets made 10 pin wheels with 2 pastry sheets. Each sheet is approx 25 cm x 25 cm
Ingredients for filling
- 2 tablespoon oil
- 1 small onion chopped
- ½ teaspoon mustard seeds optional
- 1 teaspoon ginger chopped
- 2 medium potatoes boiled,peeled and cubed
- 1 teaspoon curry powder or any other seasoning of choice.Adjust spice as per
- Salt as per taste
- 2 tablespoon green peas frozen/fresh
Instructions
Prepare the filling
- Heat oil in a skillet. Add mustard seed,let it crackle.Add chopped onions and ginger to it. Cook until they are pink over a medium flame.
- Add curry powder,salt and any other spices of your choice.Cook for few minutes.
- Add chopped potatoes (pre boiled and peeled) to it and mix it well .Mash them coarsely with masher
- Add peas to it and mix well.Cover and cook for 5- 7 minutes. Keep aside to cool
Prepare the pinwheels
- Thaw the frozen pastry sheets(for 5 minutes) & speards the filling on top of a pastry sheet.
- Cover the filling with another pastry sheet
- Using a knife or a pizza cutter, cut the sheet with the filling lengthwise in approx 8-10 strips.
- Roll each strip into a pinwheel,set aside.
- Preheat the air fryer at 190 C| 375 F for 5 mins. Place the pinwheels in the air fryer basket.
- Air fry the pinwheels for 12-14 mins at 190 C| 375 F after spraying oil on it or until they are golden brown
- Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
Notes
If you want to bake later,you may cover them with wet towel and refrigerate. I like to add boiled sweet potatoes to the mix with boiled potatoes.

Hint: Remove bits from earlier cook for best results. Always preheat your air fryer before you cook.

- If, for any reason, you are unable to locate specific ingredients at your nearby grocery store, there is no need to worry or feel anxious. It is quite common to find simple substitutions that can be used. I like to substitute the normal full fat puff pastry with a low fat option.
- You may add a spoonful of garam masala / chat masala to the filling for a spicy potato filling. Other spices that can be added as per taste are red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, dry mango powder (amchur powder)
- Adding fennel seeds (saunf) and carom seeds (ajwain), helps in digestion as all purpose flour + potatoes can be gassy.
