Quick curry: Matar Paneer

Quick curry: Matar Paneer is a lifesaver when someone drops in all of a sudden.

Matar Paneer or peas cooked with cottage cheese is a power packed protein curry.You can also pair it with jeera rice and raita if you want to go gluten-free.

Paneer is also a great option when you do not know what kids would like when someone comes home.Generally potato and paneer is a crowd favourite.It is easy to cook and you do not need too many ingredients.I generally keep paneer in my fridge,It is a great option after long day of work.Doesn’t need hours of cook time.

I love paneer because it is Versatile to cook with too.You can make a starter,curry,pilaf, and even a dessert in a short time.

You may buy the cottage cheese from dairy or make it at home.In case you do not have paneer,substitute it with halloumi or tofu.Tofu will give you the vegan option.Pressure cook the curry and serve it with tandoori roti for that special dinner.

Quick curry: Matar Paneer


  • 1/4 cup oil
  • ginger,garlic,green chillies(1 tsp each)
  • 1/3 cup onions,chopped
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1/2 tsp. turmeric
  • 1 tsp. garam masala
  • 2 tsp. chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp. coriander pdr
  • 2 tsp.salt
  • 2 tbsp. yogurt
  • 300 gms paneer(cottage cheese)
  • 3/4 cup peas
  • 1.5 cup water
  • 1 tbsp kasuri methi


  • In a pressure cooker,add oil,ginger,garlic and chillies
  • Add Onion,cook until brown
  • Add tomato puree,cook for 8-10 minutes
  • Add spices,cook for 5 minutes
  • Add curd,cook until oil comes out
  • Add Paneer,peas,water and kasuri methi
  • Pressure cook until 1-2 whistles
  • Serve with Roti bread
